Wrenbury-cum-Frith Parish Council

  • Supports the 20’s Plenty for Cheshire East campaign;
  • Calls on Cheshire East County Council to implement 20mph in Wrenbury; and
  • Will write to Cheshire East County Council to request 20mph speed limits on streets throughout Cheshire East where people live, work, shop, play or learn, with 30mph as the exception on those roads, where full consideration of the needs of vulnerable road users allows a higher limit.

Outlook Festival

Dear local community,

We would like to offer our sincerest apologies to anyone that has been disturbed by the off-site sound levels.

We are aware of issues regarding sound levels in the local area and have been monitoring this closely, reducing sound levels and removing bass to reduce impact.

A number of the complaints received came from a substantial distance from the site. This was due to environmental conditions whereby a temperature inversion created higher sound levels at distance than locally to the site. It may be that we experience similar conditions over the weekend therefore we aim to ensure that any location at which the festival is detectable does not suffer bass impact. It will not be possible to guarantee that the festival will be undetectable but we do aim to ensure that disturbance is kept to a minimum.

Regrettably, alongside this we experienced some technical issues with our temporary phone system which meant we weren’t able to take calls or call out for a period of time on Thursday late afternoon into part of the evening. We were however able to investigate all reports that were left via answerphone or the Sound Log Portal which has remained fully operational throughout.

Additional resources have been secured to ensure that internet services on the site are sufficient to guarantee that the phone lines remain accessible.

For the remainder of the weekend we will be working to ensure that minimum disturbance is caused. In order to achieve this we are initiating a number of procedures including:

  • Removal of sub-bass elements from the loudspeaker systems
  • Reduction in noise level from all systems on the site
  • Increased management presence to ensure there are no mistakes

Sunday evening – taking into consideration comments regarding disturbance before a working day. We have taken this on board and have curtailed operating hours to midnight on Sunday.

Our teams will continue to monitor levels on-site and off, taking regular readings and logging these on our system.

We invite open communication between the local community and Outlook Festival. Further details for local residents are available via our website: https://outlookfestival.com/local-residents. On this page you’ll find details on our sound reporting portal and additional contact information.

We absolutely accept our responsibilities to the community and we wish to assure you that every effort is going into making sure that your amenity is respected, and in the meantime thank you for your patience and cooperation.

Regards,

Highways Update from Cheshire East – 10 June

I would like to provide you with a quick update regarding the forthcoming highway maintenance work on Station Road and Wrenbury Road, Wrenbury.

  • As part of our risk based approach this weekend 11th and 12th June the spray injection patching machine will be repairing areas of the road as a temporary method of improving the carriageway surface for all users. This will be outside The Grange and the Mill at Aston.

This work will be carried out under temporary mobile working traffic management.

  • Please be assured that this treatment is not the final stage of carriageway treatment intended for Station Road and Wrenbury Road, but will improve the situation until the drainage issues have been identified and resolved, and we are in a position to then programme the Level 3 resurfacing work.
  • There is a meeting planned on Monday 13th June with highway engineers and Network Rail, in order to discuss and obtain permission to work within the restrictions of the level crossing safely.
  • Once permissions are granted a full highway drainage CCTV survey will be carried out in the areas of concern. Any issues arising from the survey will be addressed leaving the highway ready for the resurfacing work to be programmed.

The council appreciates everyone’s patience in waiting for this work to be delivered.

Further updates will be issued as the scheme progresses.

Wrenbury & District Model Railway Club

This week sees the 8th birthday of the Wrenbury & District Model Railway Club. They formed with just 12 members and although 4 members have passed away in those 8 years and others have moved out of the county, they now have 27 members. In addition to this growth in their numbers they have widened the variety of layouts they work on. N, 00, 0 gauge are well established and most recently 009 arrived in the form of a prize-winning layout ‘St Margaret’s Old Quay’ which had been in storage for many years and was in need of a major upgrade. All 4 gauges will be running at their Open Doors event in the Wrenbury Village Hall Friday evening the 1st of July and all day Saturday the 2nd along with other visiting layouts and railway items.

The club has been invited to attend a number of outside events during the year and hope to see you at one or more of these. To ensure the safe transit of their portable layouts they are seeking a sponsor for a bespoke trailer which also offers that sponsor an advertising opportunity.

Visitors are welcome any Wednesday evening in the Wrenbury village hall between 7 and 10pm where members can offer advice about other aspects of their hobby plus a free drink and biscuit.

Their web site keeps the various photo albums of their progress updated and carries all their contact details.

We look forward to another successful year for this local club.

Village Improvements

On behalf of the village, the Parish Council has received an amount of money which we would like to spend on village improvements.

Therefore, we are looking for your ideas as to the how we can spend this money on what you think we need to enhance the village.  All suggestions welcomed although the Council’s powers are limited so we may not be able to satisfy all requests, but where this is the case, we will explain why.

The Parish Council will then consider the suggestions and keep you all updated on selections and progress.

Either respond on the village Facebook pages or email clerk@wrenbury-pc.gov.uk
